At the Institute of Aircraft Systems (ILS) at the University of Stuttgart, we are currently conducting an exciting study on interaction between humans and AI in the cockpit of an A320neo. The study aims to explore how a responsible and safe interaction between humans and AI can be designed in safety-critical domains.

We are looking for:

  • Committed professional or commercial pilots (in training) as well as flight instructors
  • Ideally with A320 experience, pilots with experience on other commercial aircraft are also welcome
  • Experience with Microsoft Flight Simulator (MSFS 2020) is helpful, but not mandatory
  • Minimum age 18 years

When: Appointment by arrangement between mid-June and mid-July 2025

Where: In the avionic Lab of Institute for Aircraft Systems at University of Stuttgart

What to expect?

  • An exciting, approx. 2.5-hour simulator test with the MSFS 2020, in which you perform a takeoff with human and AI assistance
  • An eye-tracking system to record your eye movements
  • Associated questionnaires that provide us valuable insights into your perception of the interaction with the AI
  • An expense allowance of 45 €
  • And above all: The chance to contribute your perspective and actively shape the future of aviation!

All data collected is of course anonymized.
