On behalf of the University of Stuttgart, the Institute of Aircraft Systems has received the AIAA DATC Distinguished Institution Award at the 44th Digital Avionics Systems Conference (DASC) in Montreal, Canada, with the following dedication:
The Institute of Aircraft Systems at the University of Stuttgart has a unique dedication to digital avionics systems. It has built three fly-by-wire CS-23 aircraft, developed several of its own avionics platforms, safety-critical middleware, and development tools. It is conducting research on next-generation Integrated Modular Avionics platforms, safety-critical digital system architectures, automatic development and qualification processes, as well as the certification of AI-based aircraft systems with a team of 25 people. It has published 34 DASC publications in the last 15 years, and in the last five years, it has contributed five or more publications per year. In addition, its professors Zamira Daw and Björn Annighöfer, along with research staff, have served DASC in many active roles such as Technical Program Chair, Track Chair, Session Chair, and author for many years.
This award is presented once a year and has previously gone to e.g. Boeing, DLR, MITRE.
